The first in a series of workshops on the application of innovative technologies in the healthcare industry was held in Madrid on February 26-27.
The workshop was being held as part of a Eurpean project (Erasmus+) entitled “Tech-Health – Training Educational Course on innovative healthcare technologies.” Hospitaller organizations from Spain, Poland, Austria and Belgium. The organizer of the first workshop is Fundacion San Juan de Dios based in Madrid.
On the first day, participants had the opportunity to see the university campus of the St. John of God Obstetrics and Physiotherapy School in Madrid, which includes the “Fab Lab” workshop, where the participants were able to learn in a practical way the basics of using 3D printing in medical technologies. Practical classes included, among other things, the creation of 3D models based on data from diagnostic imaging – computed tomography – and 3D printing of the prepared models.
On the second day was held a 3D PRINTING AND INNOVATION 4 HEALTH CONFERENCE. The keynote speakers were John Merino with a topic „Innovation in healthcare, from 3D printing to AI”. Prof. Pedro Chana Valero presented a TECH HEALTH Report: Vocational Educational Training (VET) Toolkit for health care on 3D printing technologies. Another interesing topic was Biomodeling in spinal surgery – as presented by Dr. Antonio Mostaza from Leon.
Manuel Lara presented a topic of an application of 3D printing in functional diversity patients. On the and Mr. Diego Trapero showed an interesing Examples of good practices of 3D printing in Health care.
There was a time for networking, so the meeting was an opportunity to exchange experiences of specialists in orthopedics, physiotherapy and surgery.
