Workshop 2 Kraków

On May 26–27, 2025, the second workshop meeting of the international project „TECH-HEALTH – Training Educational Course on Innovative Healthcare Technologies” took place at the Hospital of the Brothers Hospitallers of St. John Grande in Krakow, co-financed by the European Union through the Erasmus+ program.

The aim of the workshop is to develop the competencies of healthcare professionals in the use of modern technologies, such as 3D printing, in the production of implants and prostheses tailored to individual patient needs.

The first part of the event was theoretical. Participants had the opportunity to listen to a series of lectures, including:

• Paweł Bogacki, MD, presented the history and activities of the Hospital of the Brothers Hospital of St. John Grande in Krakow,
• Paweł Ozga, MD, and Krzysztof Grandys, MD, Eng (University Children’s Hospital) presented a two-part lecture on „Segmentation and Imaging of Medical Data,”
• Stanisław Szymanik, MD, „Hip Arthroscopy,”
• Mr. Michał Latos, „Arthroscopic Management of a Baker’s Cyst in the Knee”
• Guests from Madrid – representatives of the project partner, Fundacion San Juan de Dios – presented examples of innovative technology implementations in healthcare.

The second day of the meeting was dedicated to practical sessions. Participants learned the basics of creating 3D models based on computed tomography data and the 3D printing process. The sessions provided hands-on experience with technology that could significantly support patient treatment in the future, including orthopedics, surgery, and physiotherapy.

TECH-HEALTH – Innovations with the Patient in Mind

The TECH-HEALTH project involves organizing three workshops aimed at supporting healthcare professionals in developing skills related to:

• the use of 3D printing to produce personalized implants and prostheses,
• the implementation of innovative medical technologies such as injection molding and 3D bioprinting,
• tailoring care to the individual needs of patients with physical, orthopedic, and hearing limitations.
  Partnership Across Borders

The project involves Hospitallers from Poland, Spain, and Austria, as well as representatives of the Hospitality Europe organisation. The first workshop took place in February in Madrid and was organized by the Fundacion San Juan de Dios.
